Kristen & Leith

I love my clients and I love the energy they bring to my shoots.  Kristen & Leith proved just that once again.  This SUPER adorable couple met in first grade.  Although they didn't get together until a few years ago, it seemed like they have been for a lifetime.  Photographing them is a great reminder of how wonderful it is to be in love...  Can't wait for their wedding in May!

Huge thanks to Yelena and Joel for helping my vision come to life and making it even more fabulous.  Kristen & Leith, you were amazing!

We had such a blast, lotsa images on this post.  Enjoy!

How gorgeous is she?!!!  They truly spelled SOPHISTICATION in caps in this series...

Leith proposed to Kristen in a picnic he put together on the cliffs. I thought it would be fun to do something along those lines... AND IT WAS!  Most of the elements here are so personal and relate to them & their story...

Bridal Fashion shoot at the Leonis Adobe Museum

I recently shot the R-Mine bridal fashion show during the Everything Wedding Expo.  This fab event was produced by Sarah Z together with the Leonis Adobe Museum.   Right after the show, we had a few minutes for a quick shoot with the models.  Here are a few faves...

My English Holiday [part 2]

When I was growing up, I had multi-volume photo albums.  Thanks Mom & Dad!  A dance recital, a birthday party or just one of 'em regular 4-year old days at home riding the bike with my little sister (actually have that photo on my desk!).  I love looking at photographs - I  enjoy the emotions they evoke and the way they bring us back to that happy place.  Again, one of the many reasons I do what I do.

Since I find myself behind the camera more often than not, the sequel to Marianne vol. 6 has been replaced with photos of cityscapes, nature, and other random things I see in my adventures... even sheep in this case!  It doesn't change that fact that photographs bring us back -to that moment, that memory, that special place.  I look at them, smile, and am reminded of how beautiful life is.  Happy Monday!

Here are a few of my favorite BW images shot during the trip...

sheep!

and even got this souvenir! ;)

My English Holiday [part 1]

Spent my 12 days of Christmas & more traveling England.  The rolling English countryside was beautiful, 12th century castles were spectacular, Stonehenge, ah magnificent!  & the history and charm of London now hold a special place in my heart.

I never take “real” vacations - my iPhone has always been an extension of my limb but I’ve learned that it doesn’t hurt to shut off once in a while.  Let creativity come to us!  Spending quality time with people we love gets us to appreciate life’s simple pleasures even more.   Photographing for yourself & seeing more of the world behind the lens makes us hungry to create more art.  Went around shooting with my Canon G11 and just had FUN.

I love shooting available light at night - thought I'd share a few of my favorites.

Make sure to come back for more tomorrow... :)

Nhi & Dave

Engagement sessions are a great way for me to get to know my couples better.   Since a good amount of my clients are from out of state and have booked me over the phone or online, I look forward to the “meet and greet!” I’ve always been fascinated by the connections we make in life and never get tired hearing new love stories – how they met, fell in love & live happily ever after :)

Nhi & Dave met and fell in love in Hawaii.  In a short amount of time, they found themselves back in the East Coast.  They are fun, easy-going  and have a natural zest for life –my kinda clients! Lawyers by trade, this adorable couple are avid travelers. I am SO jealous of your adventurous honeymoon plans!

Ah, what a glorious 75 degree + sunny Malibu winter day…
